You Really Can Text…no kidding

Teleflip is a simple and very cool service that allows you to send an email to some one’s cell phone number and it will convert it to a text message.

It can be so much easier to type an email than use the itty-bitty keys on your phone and much quicker as well. Also, if the person you send the message to hits reply, the answer goes back to your email inbox. So how do you use this simple and cool tool to be in the in crowd of texting?

Olympian Leader Grows

An open letter from a growing Olympian leader….

Before Olympian Club, my memory verse was basically John 3:16. I hardly ever read my Bible. I was thirsty for a daily devotion but didn’t have one. When I first started the club I wanted the youngest group because then I would only have to memorize the fewest verse. It was a struggle to read one book a year.

For the last 2 or 3 years I have had the oldest group because I wanted to be accountable for learning the most verses. This last year I have done my quiet time 6-7 times every week (I believe). I can’t imagine not continuing to do my memorizing scripture and quiet time. This year I am currently reading my 6^th Christian book.

I cannot express in words how much I appreciate this change in direction. I am learning more and more how much God loves me and want me to surrender my life to Him on a daily basis and serve Him.

“Preacher Boy” to Vice President of Bible Institute

As a teenager, Ric went forward in a Missions Conference to give his life to full-time ministry.
The Word of Life Club leader followed up Ric’s decision by telling him that he should get
involved in preaching at Teens Involved. He did and he loved it. This experience served to
confirm that God wanted Ric in full-time ministry. Students from around the world now benefit
from the experience of this “preacher boy.” Only today they call him “Mr. Garland” and he
serves as Word of Life’s Vice President of Bible Institutes.

First STORM of the Season

When I walked into Mike’s office there were several students and adults leaders who seemed pretty excited. The prizes for the night were in a pile…a couple very nice DVD players, baseball tickets and other prizes. Mike, the youth, and I had been planning this event for about a year, postponed it two times but the night was here. There were 15 excited young people and 9 drivers ready to go out, pick up friends and bring them back for a awesome night.

Two hours later there were 49 students 20 that Mike did not know. We had an icebreaker, some giveaways, a song from the worship team and the gospel message. I am always amazed to see how God uses the gospel, the POWER OF GOD FOR SALVATION, to bring young people to himself. This night was no different with 14 students puttingtheir faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins and promise of eternal life.
